Posting again at [livejournal.com profile] slashthedrabble. A 200-word drabble or ficlet or whatever you want to call it. It's right here.

I posted at [livejournal.com profile] slashthedrabble for the first time. It's a 400-word Spike/Xander ficlet, and it's right here.

Hope you like it!

Edited to add that, much to my surprise, this little ficlet won these:

I was really happy to learn that I won some awards at the Sunnydale Memorial Fanfiction Awards. For My Pains A World Of Sighs won Best Angst and Best AU, and Basement, 1999 was a runner-up for Best Quickie Fic.

This really means a lot to me, so thanks to everyone who read/nominated/voted, and to [livejournal.com profile] dragonydreams for running the show.

Congratulations to all the nominees and winners!

I don't watch a ton of vids, but this one came across my tumblr dash, and it's great: Bad Moon Rising by Robins Revenge.

Spander-rific indeed. My only criticism is that I wanted MORE!

I don't read the comics, but this new issue looks so Spander-rific that I'm tempted. Even the reviews are calling it a Spanderfest. Has anyone read it? What do you think? And do I need to have read the prior stuff to understand it?

Happy News

First, I was excited to learn that my story And All Was Said and my ficlet Saved won awards at the 2013 White Knight Awards.  I don't think I even knew that Saved was nominated, so this was an extra surprise.  Big thanks to [livejournal.com profile] whiskyinmind for running the show, to everyone who nominated and voted, and a big congratulations to all the winners!

Second, I recently noticed that Herself_nyc had begun archiving her wonderful fic (lots of Spuffy, but also some fantastic Spander and some historical Spike) over at AO3.  Today, I was pleased to discover that she's archiving Anna S (eliade) at her AO3 as well, including a number of things that were only available via the wayback machine.  Run!  Run and read them both!

Title:  Bed's A Bit Broken

Author:  baudown

Characters: Spike, Buffy, Riley

Disclaimer:  Don't own them

Written for:  open_on_sunday

Prompt:  Bed

Word count:  100
Note:  Set at the end of As You Were, and the title is taken from the script.  Also, not Spander.

Spike stares helplessly at the wreckage.  Where to begin?  Haul out the rubble, he reckons.  Try to salvage what's left.

Riley bloody Finn, poking his nose in, interfering.  They'd been doing just fine, until he showed up.  Better than fine, because right before it all went to hell, Buffy had asked him -- had maybe believed him --

That rotten job was killing her, by inches.  He'd done it for her.

She comes to him, such kindness in her face that he's afraid.

She hasn't come to punish him.  She's come for something worse.

She's come to say she'll never come again.

You know what's really, really nice?  To spend Sunday doing a whole bunch of things I enjoy, and then come home in the evening to find stuff of mine nominated at The Sunnydale Memorial Fanfiction Awards!  I think I have an idea who nominated one of these stories, so thank you!  And thanks to whoever for the other nominations!

I was nominated for best author (which you'll see is absurd if you check out who else is nominated in that category). For My Pains A World Of Sighs was nominated in the categories of best angst, best AU, and best characterization (Spike).  I've discussed this previously (and repeatedly, sorry), but having this particular story nominated is a huge deal to me.  Also, Basement, 1999 was nominated in the category of best quickie fic.

I'm excited to read some of the nominated stories that I haven't yet read.  Congratulations to all the nominees!

Someone was kind enough to nominate my story For My Pains A World Of Sighs in the Guise Will Be Guise (best slash) and I Will Remember You (best angst) categories at the wicked_awards. I'm particularly pleased about this nomination, because it's a story that never got a great deal of feedback (the awards site uses the ao3 link -- it got even less attention there than here), and I've always felt a little wistful about it.

Thanks for the nom -- it's made me really happy!
