The Fandom Snowflake Challenge Day Eleven
Jan. 11th, 2014 06:02 pmDay 11 of the Fandom Snowflake Challenge: Stretch yourself a little and try something new. Go play in a new fandom or with a new pairing or trope. Try creating a different kind of fanwork. Or check out some types of fanworks that are new to you.
I've only recently discovered velvet whip's fic, so for this challenge, I decided to go waaay out of my comfort zone, and read some of her Willow/Angel.
Not only is this a pairing I've never read, but I really don't read het. I mean, I have in the past, but I really haven't for the last few years. Gen, yes, but not het.
Anyway, I read In the Dark: What's a Nice Jewish Girl Like You Doing in a Place Like This . As it turned out, this story (at least in my view) is really more a character study of Willow, with Angel as the object upon which she releases her pent-up frustration and anger. It's a very believable take on Willow circa season 4, and the writing is beautiful.
I really, really liked it. Give it a try!
