Day Four at The Fandom Snowflake Challenge: Comment to someone you haven't ever interacted with before or introduce yourself to someone you've interacted with and friend/follow them. Afterwards, leave a comment in this post with the equivalent of "I did it!"
It doesn't have to be anything complex - it can be feedback for a fanwork or discussing something you might have in common or even simply admiring their icon. The point is to reach out to someone you normally wouldn't and connect with them, even if it's only for the briefest moment.
This is a hard one for me. I was reading fanfic for a long time before I got up the nerve to start leaving comments. And as ridiculous as it might seem, I'm extremely self-conscious about friending people. I think this is partly a function of being a bit shy in RL (although I'm told that this is not apparent to others, I still feel it); and partly that, not having grown up with the internet and social media, I'm never really sure what the etiquette is. I friend people who ask to be friended in order to read their fic, but other than that, I rarely friend anyone unless they friend me first. I should probably get over this, huh? Maybe I'd have a larger flist!:)
