Thank you for this heart-breaking, heart-healing, wonderful story! In the space of 6,055 (I cheated and copy/pasted it into word) I've run through a whole gamut of emotions. From sadness, to hope, back to sad with a side order of pissed off, because it seemed so unfair. I was even afraid, for a tiny space of time because it looked like both of then were going to die.

I read the ending with a great big sigh and a grin!
